Enrollment and approval
When will the course open?
As soon as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approves it. Create your account and we will email you the day enrollment opens.
Do I need a boater safety card in Florida?
Florida’s boater education requirements are set by the FWC. See the FWC Boater Education page for who needs one.
I need a card for a rental this week. What should I do?
Take one of the courses on the FWC list of approved boating safety courses. They are available now.
Will my email address be shared?
No. We use it only to run your account and to tell you when enrollment opens. See our Privacy Policy.
How long does the course take?
Most students complete the course in 2–4 hours. You can pause and resume at any time within your 30-day access window.
How long is my access valid?
You have 30 days from the date of purchase to complete the course and pass the exam.
Can I retake the exam?
Yes! You can retake the exam as many times as needed within your 30-day access period. Each attempt uses a fresh set of randomly selected questions.
What score do I need to pass?
You need to answer at least 19 out of 25 questions correctly (76%) to pass.
What do I receive after passing?
You can immediately download a PDF certificate of completion from your dashboard.
Is this course accepted in Florida?
BoatSafely101 is an independent boater safety course. It is not currently an FWC-approved course, so it does not by itself satisfy Florida’s mandatory boater education requirement. Check with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for the approved courses that do.
